Fact: the Winefly has me dream job… no, dream life! She not only gets to live in The Strand on the outskirts of Cape Town, but also gets to work in the wine industry and can justifiably classify visiting wonderful wine farms and restaurants as just part of her job. She is also the proud owner of some mpossibly cute bunnies, but you'll have to click through to her site to see those. Here's what she has to say for herself:
1. Where are you – in South Africa or out in the wide world?
South Africa
2. How long have you been blogging?
Since 24 January 2007
3. What do you enjoy the most about food or wine blogging?
That I have my own space where I can ramble about my passion for wine.
4. Any downsides or frustrations?
Yeh – to keep the blog live you need to at least post something once a week – and some weeks is just REALLY hectic … which means that some of the post is short and sweet (or not)
5. What or who are your inspirations to cook, drink and write?
Cook – my fiancé (he is the best chef that I have ever met – because he does it with passion) but this means that I never cook anymore 🙂
Drink – who needs inspiration to drink? These days you don't even always need a bottle opener…life could not be easier!
Write – I loooove talking and writing is talking in silence, best is you can actually think before you write and you can add and delete along the way
6. Where and when do you like to blog?
I usually blog at 05h00 or 06h00AM – Johan leaves for work then – so what better time, than then. Sometimes I just copy and paste my word document during work hours – but that only takes me about 30 minutes….so no harm done there – promise!
7. What's your signature dish or favourite wine?
Sorry I cannot answer this one. I am a woman and my moods and tastes change hourly 🙂 But today my moods and cravings were: morning – bubbles and salmon scrambled egg; afternoon – Viognier or fresh Sauvignon Blanc and prawn salad. Evening (now) – Pinot Noir and duck salad or ostrich steak and Shiraz
8. What other food or wine blogs do you read?
Here and there a few, but mostly The Cru and Pinotage Club – I think the reason why I do not read more blogs is because I have not saved their links under My Favourites yet….. eish – should make a plan I know.
9. Favourite restaurant?
Same answer here as at no.7 – all depending on what my taste buds are yearning for and of-course how far we are away from payday 🙂 I also prefer not to go to the same restaurants on a regular basis, I try to eat at a different one most of the time.
10. For my last meal on this planet I would order…
Everything on the menu and wine list and do some pairings of my own …. I will wear a bigger size pants to the restaurant to stay comfy – as I will not have to worry of being overweight or having a hangover the next day!
